About Students at Work

Teachers Information

Using this site

Students have identified teachers as a trustworthy source of advice. Teachers will find resource material and information aimed at helping support teachers in this trusted role.

Teachers have availabe a variety of tools, information and teaching resources to help teach and assist working students about life at work.

Students often seek advice from their teachers on all manner of things. This includes students' own work-related issues.

Sometimes teachers are the only people in their lives who are seen as active union members. This causes some students to ask about the role of unions in contemporary Australia.

As a teacher you are encouraged to become familiar with this site, especially the Student section. The aim is to make the site a 'one stop shop' for parties supporting and working with working students – the students themselves, their teachers, parents and carers and employers.

You are therefore encouraged to use the site and refer students to it when the occasion arises.

The "Time Tamer" may be suitable for inclusion in lesson plans when teaching study skills and time management.

You could use and adapt the teaching materials on the site already. As more material is developed, it will be considered for inclusion, depending on suitability.

Teaching Resources

The ACTU has developed some Activity Sheets for students which may be useful if you are looking for materials to adapt for teaching purposes. You will find them here.
